We are committed to providing safe, high-quality care to every patient who walks into our hospital, and I am so proud to share that Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital was recognized for its efforts. We received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent organization that measures the safety of 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice annually. Thank you to all our incredible physicians and staff for making this designation possible!

I am happy to share the news of my promotion to Market President of Dignity Health Sacramento. In this expanded role, I will oversee five of Dignity Health’s hospitals in the Greater Sacramento Area. While I am looking forward to having a larger impact on our patient and provider community across the region, I am also humbled and grateful for the invaluable experience and amazing relationships I’ve gained while serving as the hospital President of Mercy General Hospital.

Last night we celebrated 100 years of the groundbreaking of Mercy General Hospital (Thanksgiving Day, 1923). It opened as Sacramento’s first hospital and has been providing a wide range of health, social and support services with special advocacy for the poor and underserved ever since. We gathered in the lobby to reflect on the unique history of our hospital, listen to some wonderful live music and bury a time capsule filled with our history. In another 100 years we hope future leaders can look back on our achievements and progress with the same appreciation we have for those who came before us.

In an industry driven by compassion and innovation, the vital role of female leadership cannot be overstated. In a recent interview with ABC 10 reporter Alex Bell, my three colleagues, Lisa Hausmann, Phyllis Baltz, Gena Bravo, and I discussed the progress women have made in the healthcare industry, the importance of inspiring the next generation of female leaders through mentorship and our efforts to create a healthier and more equitable future for all. https://lnkd.in/gYhjW_KU

Happy National Doctors Day!Healthcare today is more complex than ever. With ever changing advancements, tools, and information, doctors have an overwhelming job to diagnose and treat patients. Yet, they continue to rise to the occasion. Today, more than ever, we know the sacrifices they make to put the health of their communities first. The patients featured in this video are just a drop in the bucket of the lives touched by doctors every day. We are extremely grateful for all doctors, and specifically for those that serve within our Dignity Health hospitals. #nationaldoctorsday

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we are honored to elevate the voices of incredible leaders within our organization, to speak to their truths and about Black contributions to medicine, as well as the work still ahead of us.We know that, statistically and anecdotally, patients have better outcomes when treated by a clinician who comes from a similar background. Yet, in the medical field, there are far too few providers from underrepresented groups, and the impact that has on patient care is astounding. At Dignity Health, we are committed to breaking down this barrier to care through our longstanding ten-year partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine. Our aim is to change the math and the face of healthcare in the U.S.

For those who served, and now continue to care for our communities within our Dignity Health facilities - we thank you! We extend a heartfelt gratitude to all of our nation's veterans. You and your family's sacrifice is recognized and greatly appreciated today, tomorrow and always. Special thanks to my dad, a Marine Corp veteran!! #VeteransDay
