Hello momma’s
My water ruptured last night and came to the ER to make sure. My water broke and I was contracting. They are telling me I will be at the hospital until the baby comes which could be in 1 week, 2weeks, 2-3 months but I will be bed bound. I’ve been crying all day. So many thoughts and I can’t imagine being in the hospital bed bound for 3 months! Any one experience anything like this with previous pregnancies?

No but curious if all your water leaked out? Were they able to do something to close your cervix or stop the fluid? I was always told your baby has to be delivered after 24 hours of water breaking

@ANC07,
majority of water leaked out but I still have some when they checked last night but more has been coming out. Good thing is I wasn’t dialed so baby could stay in.

@ANC07,
if you still have some fluid, they can keep monitoring you and put you on antibiotics to try to let baby keep growing. The “24 hour rule” you hear about is more about needing antibiotics after 24 hours, not necessarily the baby has to come out.

@Momma2be12,
Trying to keep busy with small crafts, shows, or anything you can do with your hands will help. Prayers for you and your baby ❤️

My friend recently had her water break at 24 weeks. She ended up delivering at 29 weeks. She had to stay in the hospital the entire time until baby came. Baby was born small but healthy. Was on a feeding tube and oxygen. Baby came home from NICU perfectly fine around the actual due date, but still need the oxygen. Now 4 months old and thriving. She was on bed rest in the hospital the whole time until delivery. They wouldn't let her go home and had to give her lots of fluids. The only time she was allowed out of bed was to use the bathroom or get in a wheelchair so she could leave her room for a bit. Hopefully your baby can stay inside a few more weeks. But I'm sure your doctor's will do everything they can to make sure baby thrives no matter when they are born. Hang in there!

@bbwrw44,
Thank you so much for sharing. It is encouraging to hear your friend’s baby is doing well. I am hopeful that baby will stay a bit longer and we take it from there.

I haven’t personally but a good friend of mine who was only two weeks ahead of me just had her baby at 28 weeks. Her water broke and the plan was to keep her in the hospital for as long as possible and try to hold off birth until 32 weeks.
She had her baby a few days after being admitted but her and baby are doing AMAZING. Baby will be in NICU for awhile, but he is doing so well. They were able to take him off IV for food and they are now able to bottle feed him and he is expected to be completely fine!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I know how terrified she was/is. It’s now been two weeks and he is just getting stronger and stronger everyday.

I haven’t experienced this but I was essentially bedridden for almost 2 mos with my first after breaking my ankle at 26 weeks. It was awful because I was in constant pain. So all I can say is find books to read, call your friends and family to pass the time, and watch something new on TV. Praying everything will be okay!

@SMas,
ooh wow. I’m sorry to hear. I’m glad you pulled through. Thank you. I will definitely take those recommendations to pass the time because I am already bored lol.

My water broke at 17 weeks. I was hospitalized on strict bedrest until baby was delivered via c section at 27 weeks. It was a long scary process.

@12345678blessed,
Ooh wow! I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I would love to hear a bit more about your experience. What made them take the baby out eventually at 27weeks. You made it 10 weeks after your water broke which is amazing! How is your baby doing?

My friend who was about 8 weeks ahead of me had her water break around 27 weeks. They told her the same, she had to stay at the hospital. They gave her steroids for the baby and antibiotics. And told her to hydrate like crazy to replace the fluid loss.
She gave birth like 5 or 6 days later, just shy of 28 weeks. He has been in the NICU the past two months, but has been hitting his milestones and graduated off the oxygen.
It sucks and it’s scary. But it’s doable.
Try to focus on hydrating and letting your body rest so you can keep baby in there as long as possible.

My niece was born at 30 weeks, 20 days after my son, they’re two now and you would never know. She actually started talking before him. They had to stay in the NICU for a couple months but it was just so she could gain weight. Sending positive vibes
