Texas high school basketball seasons are heating up and SBLive is taking stock of the top 25 boys basketball teams in the Lone Star State across all associations and classifications, from the UIL, to TAPPS, to the Texas Christian Athletic League.

Dynamic Prepremains at No. 1 after a pair of Top 10 national wins and the rest of the top 10 stays the same with district play heating up.

1. Dynamic Prep (Irving, Tex.) (15-1)

Previous rank: 1;Last week: Def. R.W. Goines Stem Academy, def. Shabach Christian (Maryland), def. Mt. Zion Prep (Maryland); SBLive/SI national ranking: No. 7.

Dynamic Prep picked up another win to add to their impressive start to the season. The program in just its second year of existence is the number one team in the Lone Star State and for good reason.The program is run by six-time NBA All-Star Jermaine O'Neal and features Top 100 juniors Jaden Toombs and Jermaine O'Neal Jr. Leon Horner, a 6-foot-6 wing.

2. Plano East (Plano, Tex.) (24-0, 5-0)

Previous rank: 2;Last week: Def. Plano (68-53), Coppell (71-58), Plano West (88-61).

The Panthers continued their undefeated season through district play, takingdown district opponents Plano, Coppell and Plano West with the postseason one month away.Led by junior D.J. Hall and senior Jordan Mizell, will Plano East separate itself from the pack in District 6-6A?

3. Stony Point (Round Rock, Tex.) (23-1, 5-0)

Previous rank: 3; Last week: Def. Cedar Ridge (72-43), def. Vista Ridge (78-43), def. Round Rock Westwood (65-47).

After a loss to No. 2 Plano East at the end of December, Stony Point has won three straight. The Tigers are led by Villanova signee Josiah Moseley's nearly 23 points per game and junior guard Uzziah Buntyn's nearly six assists per game.

4. Seven Lakes (Katy, Tex.) (25-2, 8-0)

Previous rank: 4;Last week: Def. Katy Taylor (87-48).

The Spartans continued their dominance through the start of their district season with two more wins last week. Led by AJ Bates and Brett Norton, senior-laden Seven Lakes seek its third straight district title.

Up next: Against Katy Tompkins, Tuesday, 7 p.m.

5. Lake Travis (Austin, Tex.) (23-3, 8-0)

Previous rank: 5; Last week: Def. San Antonio Johnson (73-57), def. Akins (75-58).

The Cavaliers have quality wins over Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy and Waxahachie, San Antonio Reagan and district rival Austin-Westlake, led by standout junior forward Hudson Greer (24 points, 7 rebounds per game).

Up next: Against Westlake, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

6. Brennan (San Antonio, Tex.) (20-4, 8-0)

Previous rank: 6; Last week:Def. Holmes (75-40), def. Jay (85-59).

The top ranked team in the San Antonio area continuity from its regional championship team from 2022-23, namely junior guard Kingston Flemings (17.2 points per game) and sophom*ore wing Isaiah Ward (13.7).

Up next: Against Harlan, Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.

7. Veterans Memorial (San Antonio, Tex.) (26-1, 5-0)

Previous rank: 7;Last week:Def. San Antonio Wagner (45-42), def. Kerrville-Tivy (66-44).

The Patriots are looking for their third straight district title, and will be tested on Jan. 19 against No. 16 Boerne Champion. A victory will put a Veterans group led by senior wings Demarion Dennis (14.4 points per game) and Gervai Maeweathers (11.1) in the driver's seat for a three-peat.

Up next: At Canyon, Tuesday, 6:30 pm.

8. Beaumont United (Beaumont, Tex.) (22-1, 4-1)

Previous rank: 8;Last week: Def. West Brook (57-49), def. Humble (110-60).

The district race appears to be between Timberwolves and Atascocita, which has beat United once this season with a rematch set for Jan, 24. The Timberwolves have made four straight Alamodome appearances, led by 2024 guards Clarence Payia (20.2 points per game), Kayde Dodson (17.8) and senior center Weston Davis (12 rebounds per game).

Up next: At North Shore, Tuesday, 7 p.m.; Against Kingwood, Friday, 7 p.m.

9. Clements (Fort Bend, Tex.) (22-0, 8-0)

Previous rank: 9; Last week: Def. George Ranch (59-40), def. Fort Bend Elkins (59-52).

The win streak continues. Two more district wins last week pushed the Rangers' record to 22-0, for a district 20 crown.The Rangers will be challenged in conference play against Ridge Point and Fort Bend Hightower and are being led in scoring senior Divine Ugochukwu (18 points per game).

10. St. Michaels (Austin, Tex.) (26-1)

Previous rank: 10; Last week: Def.Against Incarnate Word Academy (89-40), def. Antonian Prep (76-61).

After nail-biter win over No. 14 New Braunfels, St. Michaels enter TAPPS 5A, District 3 play undefeated.Sophom*ore Bo Ogden leads the team in scoring (17.8 points per game) and 2025 forward Aiden Disu hauls in seven rebounds per game.

Up next:At Hyde Park, Jan. 23, 7:30 p.m.

11. Allen (Allen, Tex.) (22-4, 5-0)

Previous rank: 11; Last week: Def. Prosper (69-44), def. Little Elm (76-56).

Led by junior wing Isaiah Dozier and sophom*ore point guard Nehemiah Lawrence, the Eagles' strength of schedule has proven helpful in its pursuit for a repeat 6A District 5 title.

Up next:Against Rock Hill, Tuesday, 7:15 p.m.

12. North Crowley (Fort Worth, Tex.) (21-3, 5-0)

Previous rank: 14;Last week: Def. Weatherford (75-41), def. Bell (76-51).

The Panthers move up two spots after a strong early season with marquee wins over Allen and Atascocita, as well as winter tourney wins at the McDonalds Texas Invitational and Raising Canes Key City Classic. The Panthers seek their seventh straight district championship.

Up next: Against Chisolm Trail, Tuesday, 8 p.m.; at Crowley, Saturday, 2 p.m.

13. Belton (Belton, Tex.) (22-3, 4-1)

Previous rank: 12; Last week: Def. Lake Belton (91-67), def. Killeen (60-53).

The Tigers hit a hiccup in district play, losing to University on Jan. 2, but bounced by winning three in a row. Belton's strong start led by 2,000 point scorer Trap Johnson, a Montana State commit.

Up next: At Chaparral, Wednesday, 7 p.m.; Against Shoemaker, Friday, 7 p.m.

14. New Braunfels (New Braunfels, Tex.) (22-3, 1-0)

Previous rank: 13;Last week: Def. Regents (66-63), def. Steele (66-55).

Lost narrowly to No. 10 St. Michaels on Jan. 5, but regrouped to rattle off its next two. New Braunfels, a favorite to claim the 6A District 27 crown, are led by senior Lance Beeghley (12.5 points per game).

Up next:Against East Central, Tuesday, 7 p.m.; At Clements, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

15. Longview (Longview, Tex.) (22-2, 5-0)

Previous rank: 15;Last week: Def. Texarkana Texas (60-49), Mt. Pleasant (44-39).

Things are a-rollin' in Longview. The Lobos, winners of 17 straight (including their first five district matchups), are led by senior center Robert Blandburg (12 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks per game).

Up next: At Tyler, Wednesday, 7 p.m.; Against Hallsville, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

16. Shadow Creek (Pearland, Tex.) (21-2, 5-0)

Previous rank: 17;Last week: Def. Alvin (78-21), def. Dawson (70-49).

The Sharks are riding a 13-game win streak after improving to 3-0 in conference play last week. Shadow Creek will look to claim their second district championship in three years with an experience squad led by senior wing Kaden Tate, who averages a double-double (12.1 point, 10.3 rebounds per game) and junior point guard Michael Collins (17 points per game).

17. Boerne-Champion (Boerne, Tex.) (21-4, 4-1)

Previous rank: 16;Last week:Def. Smithson Valley (47-44), lost to Seguin (68-39).

After an undefeated month of December, the Chargers are hoping a blip — 29-point loss to Seguin — isn't a sign of a skid with No. 7 Veterans Memorial ahead on Friday. Senior Tre Hudspeth and Charlie Georgelos lead the way.

18. Keller (Keller, Tex.) (18-5, 4-0)

Previous rank: 18;Last week: Def. Timber Creek (78-54).

Led by Indians' junior combo guard Steven Ramirez (21.7 points, 7.0 rebounds per game), Keller is looking for its third straight 6A District 14 crown this season.

Up next: At V.R. Eaton, Wednesday, 7 p.m.; Keller Central, Friday, 7 p.m.

19. St. Johns (Houston, Tex.) (19-6, 2-1)

Previous rank: 19

Last week: 3-0 record. Def. St. Andrews, 81-46 , Def. St. Stephens Episcopal, 77-58, Def. Salt and Light Homeschool, 74-29

The Mavericks opened up district play with two lopsided victories last week bouncing back from their second place finish in the Private School Classic and added another big win on Monday. With district play ramping up this week, St. Johns will look to junior do-it-all wing Sebastian Williams-Adames to a district championship.

Up next: Against Bellaire Episcopal, Friday, 7 p.m.

20. Atascocita (Humble, Tex.) (21-6, 5-0)

Previous rank: 20;Last week: Def. North Shore (77-44), def. Summer Creek (93-65).

After a slow start (four forfeits) to start the season, the Eagles are winners of 17 straight, including a 20-point win over No. 8 Beaumont United and another marquee win in a tournament against Brennan. The 6A District 21 title will certainly come down to the rematch with the No. 8 Timberwolves on Jan. 24.

Up next:At Kingwood, Wednesday, 7 p.m.; At West Brook, Friday, 7 p.m.

21. Schertz-Clemens (Schertz, Tex.) (20-6, 2-0)

Previous rank: 21;Last week: Def. San Marcos (56-39), def. Judson (56-52).

The Buffaloes are shaping up to be key players in deciding the 6A District 27 race with New Braunfels and San Marcos. With signature wins against Atascocita and Antonian Prep, the Buffaloes are led by senior Travon Williams, sophom*ore Jamail Garland and junior Andre Starks.

Up next: Against No. 14 New Braunfels, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

22. Gregory-Portland (Portland, Tex.) (22-4, 3-0)

Previous rank: 22;Last week: Def. Ray (88-58).

The top ranked team in the South Texas region, the Wildcats have signature wins against Flour Bluff and Alice, led by junior forward Shawn Williams (21.1 points, 10 rebounds per game).

Up next: At Victoria East, Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.

23. Amarillo (Amarillo, Tex.) (22-4, 1-0)

Previous rank: 23; Last week: Def. Tascosa (69-53).

Amarillo has had a stellar non-district season so far boasting a Coppell Tournament championship with signature wins against McKinney and Austin-Westlake. The Sandies are seeking their fifth straight 5A District 3 crown, led by head coach Jason Pillion and senior wing TJ Brown (West Texas A&M commit).

Up next: Against Plainview, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

24. Lake Ridge (Mansfield, Tex.) (21-3, 5-0)

Previous rank: 25;Last week: Def. DeSoto (63-60), Mansfield Legacy (70-54).

Sitting atop the conference with Waxahachie, the two programs will meet up two times (Jan. 17, Feb. 9). The Eagles have a signature win over district rival Duncanville and seek a Class 6A District 11 championship. Ahmare Rose(12.9 points per game), a 6-foot-6 senior forward,paces the Eagles.

25. Argyle (Argyle, Tex.) (22-3, 5-1)

Previous rank: 24;Last week: Beat Denton (46-40, OT), Lake Dallas (64-45).

After a down 2022 season, the Eagles have already bounced back in 2023-24 wthtwo tournament championship victoriesafter finishing sixth in the Class 4A District 7. Senior combo guard Jayson Demcher just surpassed the 1,000-point career scoring mark.
