[SWGOH] The Forbidden Team.... | Fandom (2024)

Most players of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes will know that your intended to put similar characters together to make good teams... Seppies go with Seppies, Rebels go with Rebels, et cetera. Yet there's one group that's been rather... Overlooked. The Astromechs.

T3-M4, Chopper,BB-8, R2-D2 are the current 4 Astromechs in the game. All of them are Support characters, meaning they kinda hang back and well, support. But I've found that when combined with C-3PO... Strange things happen.

To explain, I'm gonna list their active abilities, but not the passive ones since I would be here all day. However, in italics I will list what happens because of this team. So regular text is what you expect to happen, and italics are the unique fluke of this team.

Alright so first we have the leader, C-3PO. He doesn't have to be the leader since no one on the team has leader abilities, but it looks nicer with him leading.

So as with most characters in the game, C-3PO has two types of abilities that he can use during his turn. He can only pick one, and one of them, his "special" has a cooldown period where it can't be used. Pretty simple right? Ok here's the abilities.

C-3POs Basic: Inflict 1 stack of Confuse(at one stack, the enemy can't gain buffs, at 2 stacks they can't counter, assist, or gain bonus turn meter, at 3 stacks when they use their basic, they increase their own cooldowns by 1)for 3 turns. And remove 6% turn meter(you need 100% to take a turn) Reduce turn meter an additional 3% for each stack of Translation,(maximum is three, so 9%) However, because of his own passive abilities, Rebels inflict Expose for 2 turns with their basic.(Expose causes the enemy to take 20% of their health in damage when they are hit, then it goes away.) Every ally with Translation also gets their cooldowns reduced by 1 when he uses this ability.

Then you have C-3POs Special, which has a cooldown of 3 turns: C-3PO Gains Potency Up and Stealth for 2 turns, then he and target other ally gain Translation(will be explained later)for 3 turns, C-3PO inflicts Confuse twice on target enemy for 3 turns, then calls all other allies with Translation to assist, doing 50% less damage. Again, due to his own passive abilities, Resistance characters inflict Offense down for 2 turns on the target enemy with their special abilities.(Offense down cuts the damage they can do in half.) Also, he gains a stack of Translation. And since he gained a non-unique buff, he gets 15% bonus Protection for 2 turns. And thanks to BB-8, he also gains the Secret Intel buff for 3 turns.

Then you have Chopper, who acts as the backup tank of the team.

Choppers basic: Does damage to target enemy, and gives a random Droid ally either Offense Up,Speed Up, or Defense Up at random for 2 turns, with a 60% chance to also decrease that ally's cooldowns by 1. However, thanks to C-3PO, he also inflicts Expose on the target enemy for 2 turns, and if his attack is a critical hit(which does higher damage than a regular hit, but only happens occasionally... At least in theory) because of R2-D2s unique, he removes all debuffs from himself. Critical hits also reduce BB-8s cooldown by 1. Also, if he gives this buff to R2-D2 or C-3PO, they also gain 15% bonus Protection for 2 turns(kinda like a second health bar, you have to destroy it before damaging health) because they are Galactic Republic characters.

Then you have Choppers first special, with a cooldowns of 3: Gain Taunt(forces enemies to attack him) for 1 turn. While Chopper has Taunt, he gains 30% Evasion.(If he evades an attack, nothing happens to him) Because of BB-8 and C-3PO, he gains Secret Intel for 3 turns and Translation for 3 turns respectively.

There's also Choppers Second special, also cooldown of 4: Dispel all buffs from target enemy. If they are a Droid, Stun them for 1 turn, which can't be Evaded.(Stun basically means they skip a turn, although they also can't counter attack or evade attacks) Recover (Heal)25% Protection and remove 10% turn meter from all enemies for each buff dispelled. Again, gain Secret Intel for 3 turns and a stack of Translation for 3 turns.

Also worth mentioning is thanks to his unique(passive abilities), when Chopper starts his turn he recovers 15% Health, and when he is attacked and doesn't have bonus Protection already, he gains 15% bonus Protection. And he has a 30% chance to assist when a Droid ally uses an ability during their turn.

Then you have the unsung hero of the franchise, relegated to secondary attacker in this team: R2-D2.

R2-D2s Basic: Do damage to target enemy, with an 80% chance to Stun them. Burning targets take 30% more damage. Also, because of C-3PO, R2 inflicts Expose for 2 turns. And because of his own passive abilities, he can remove all debuffs on himself with a critical hit. Critical hits also reduce BB-8s cooldown by 1.

R2-D2s first Special, with a cooldown of 4: Do damage to all enemies and inflict Burning(does a tiny bit of damage each turn, and lowers enemies Evasion chance.) for 3 turns. He also inflicts Offense down for 2 turns on the target enemy and gains a stack of Translation for 2 turns thanks to C-3PO, gains Secret Intel for 3 turns and reduces BB-8s cooldown by 1 on a critical hit thanks to BB-8, and removes his debuffs on a critical hit because of his own abilities. Since he's attacking up to 5 targets, it's very likely at least one hit is critical.

Then you have R2s second Special, which isn't an attack and has a cooldown of 4: Target ally gains Foresight(basically a one-use, guaranteed evasion) and Advantage(one-use guaranteed critical hit) for 2 turns, and all other allies gain Stealth(prevents them from being targeted unless everybody has it, also can't be counter attacked.) R2-D2 gains 40% turn meter. He also gains 15% Protection up for 2 turns and a stack of Translation for 2 turns because of C-3PO, and Secret Intel for 3 turns from BB-8.

Next you have the main damage dealer of the team, and sorta the odd duck as well: T3-M4. While the others all can gain Translation naturally, T3 can't. He also isn't affected by most of C-3POs passive abilities as he is an Old Republic character, and not Rebel,Resistance or Galactic Republic. However the sheer damage he provides, plus the boosts he gives his allies, make him a worthy member of the team.

T3-M4s Basic: Do damage to target enemy with a 75% chance to inflict Ability block for 1 turn.(stops enemies from using Special abilities) If the enemy has Target Lock, then this attack can't be resisted(Depending on a targets Tenacity, and an attackers Potency, enemies can resist debuffs.) While C-3PO isn't much help to T3, R2 still allows him to dispel his debuffs on a critical hit. And BB-8s cooldown will also be reduced by 1 on a critical hit. Thanks to T3s ability, all Droids gain 8% Critical hit chance and Potency when he uses an ability.

Then there's T3s first Special, cooldown 3: Dispell all debuffs on target ally. If that ally is a Droid(which is everyone here.Duh.) they also recover 50% Health and 50% Protection, and gain Offense Up and Critical Hit Immunity for 2 turns. BB-8 also still allows T3 to gain Secret Intel for 3 turns, also since he gives non-unique buffs, R2 and C-3PO will gain 15% Protection up for 2 turns if they are the target ally. Again, all droids gain 8% Potency and Critical Hit chance.

Finally you have T3s special attack, which is a very, very good one for a Support character, and has a cooldown of 3: Dispell all buffs on all enemies, then do damage to all enemies. Inflict Offense Down and Critical Damage down for 3 turns.(reduces the bonus damage a critical hit does) Then remove 20% turn meter from all enemies. Target Locked enemies can't resist these debuffs. Again, BB-8 still lets T3 gain Secret Intel for 3 turns and reduce BB-8s cooldown by 1 on a critical hit, and R2 lets him remove all of his debuffs on a critical hit. Again, Since he used an ability, all droids gain 8% Potency and Critical hit chance.

Also when T3-M4 starts his turn he has a 75% chance to inflict Target Lock on a random enemy, which can't be Resisted.

Finally you have BB-8, the main Tank of the team, who has some rather quirky abilities.

BB-8s Basic: Deal damage to target enemy and inflict Tenacity down for 2 turns. If they already had Tenacity down, inflict Daze for 2 turns(stops attacking outside of your turn, and gaining bonus turn meter from abilites) Also removes all of his debuffs and decreases the cooldown of his second special on a critical hit because of R2s and his own abilities. Because of his own abilities, he calls a Resistance ally to assist if he's attacking outside of his turn, which means either C-3PO or R2-D2 will assist him, using their basic attacks on the enemy.

Now comes the Specials, which have pretty wonky cooldowns. His first Special has no cooldown at all: BB-8 and a random ally that doesn't have it gain Secret Intel for 3 turns. Then BB-8 gains 8% Turn meter for each ally with Secret Intel(maximum would be 40%). If all allies are Droids, BB-8 gains Taunt for 1 turn. BB-8 also inflicts Offense down for 2 turns on the target enemy.

Then you have BB-8s other Special Ability, with a cooldown of 70!: Remove all Debuffs on all allies and Expose all enemies for 2 turns. All Allies gain 80% Turn Meter and gain Advantage,Critical Chance Up,Critical Damage Up,Offense Up, and Speed Up for 4 turns. Droid allies recover 20% Protection. This ability starts on cooldown and can't be Evaded. Also inflicts Offense Down for 2 turns on the target enemy, and R2 and C-3PO gain 15% Protection Up for 2 turns, and BB-8 gains Secret Intel for 3 turns and Translation for 3 turns.

Also, BB-8 has a 50% chance to gain Foresight for 2 turns when he is attacked, and when he evades Droids recover 8% Health and 8% Protection. He also has an 80% chance to counter attack when he is damaged.

Now already, that's a lot of interaction going on. But while that in itself can make a team decent, buffing a teams stats can also be very useful. And boy, is there a ton of that action going on. Each character gains the following stat boosts, organized per stat boosted:

Defense Penetration: Everybody gains 10%, plus 100% of T3-M4s Defense Penetration.(including T3-M4.) C-3PO and R2 gain 10%(total 30%) for each stack of Translation.

Potency: Everybody gains 10%, plus 8% when T3 uses an Ability, plus 10% of R2s Potency. R2 gains 10% for each Resistance (total 30%). R2, C-3PO and Chopper gain 10% Potency for each stack of Translation(total 30%) Anyone with Secret Intel gains 25%

Critical Damage: Everybody gains 10%, plus 8% for each debuff on the enemy team. R2, C-3PO and BB-8 gains 10% for each stack of Translation(total 30%)

Evasion: C-3PO and R2 gain 10% for each stack of Translation (total 30%)

Critical Hit Chance: Everybody gains 10%, plus 8% whenever T3 uses an ability. Anyone with at least 2 stacks of Translation gains 15%

Accuracy: Everyone gains 10%

Health: Everyone gains 10% of R2s Health. R2 gains 10% Health for each Rebel(total 30%) Anyone with at least 1 stack of Translation gains 30%

Protection: Everyone gains 10% of R2s Protection. R2 gains 10% for each Droid(total 50%)

Offense: Everyone gains 10% of R2s Offense. R2 gains 10% for each Galactic Republic(total 20%)

What does that all mean? It means that all of these guys are gonna hit a lot harder than they usually do, will almost always inflict their debuffs, and will be a bit tougher to kill, especially R2.

I think this team is a rather decent fun team to use every now and then. However talking about it is not a good idea. Since usually these characters have poor damage, you will most likely be laughed at. But in my testing I have found it to be a pretty capable mid-level team. And quite possibly the most complex in SWGOH. Believe me this was the shortest I could make this post.
