Why choose Cox TV?
Cox’s Contour TV packages have just about every channel you’ve ever heard of, and they start at just $61/mo. But the real cherry on top is that you can get Max, Cinemax, Paramount + with SHOWTIME or STARZ included for free for the first year. You canalso bundle TV and internetto save even more.
The only major downside? The DVR plan that’s included only lets you record one show at a time, while streaming services like YouTube TV let you record as many as you want simultaneously.

The difference between the three Cox DVRs
Storage space and the number of shows you can record at a time. While many people likely don’t need more than 100 hours of storage or to be able to record more than two shows at a time, larger families or major sports fans often opt for the more expensive plans.
Receiver plans and prices
In addition to a TV plan and a DVR, you will likely also want to select a receiver. The first Contour HD receiver is included at no extra cost, while each additional receiver costs $10/mo. You can also choose the Basic Box, which provides no access for premium channels or on-demand content or Pay-Per-View, for $4/mo. per receiver. Finally, if you already have a receiver you like, you can rent a CableCARD for $4/mo.
Cox live TV fees
Standard:The prices for Cox Contour TV plans are locked in for the first two years. This is a huge pro in Cox’s favor, as many providers increase prices by up to 50% after the first 12 months. That said, all Cox plans come with additional fees:
- Broadcast fee: up to $13.50/mo.
- Regional sports fee: up to $10/mo.
- Cox early termination fees: $240 minus $10 for every paid month. Cox TV contracts come in 12, 18 or 24 months.
Technical support:Another optional fee is the Cox Complete Care plans, which costs an additional $10/mo. The Cox Complete Care plan covers any technical difficulties you may have, including in-person technician visits.Considering each service call costs $60 on its own, this plan is a good deal if you think you’ll be making more than two calls a year.
Additional Cox TV fees
Along with your monthly TV plan price, you’ll pay additional subscriber fees for broadcasting, regional sports, receiver rentals, installation, activation and taxes. See a full list ofCox TV feesand what they really mean before you receive your first monthly bill.
Save more with Cox TV and Cox internet bundles
If you’re looking to save money, you can build aCox bundlewith TV, phone and internet services. Internet and TV bundles start at $47.99/mo. for internet speeds of 50 Mbps. In these cheaper packages, no live TV channels are included.
For a live TV and internet bundle, prices start at $127.99/mo. Cox vs. live TV streaming services
Other cable companies aren’t the only options when you’re shopping around for TV service. You can also sign up for a live TV streaming service no matter where you live. These typically require around 15 Mbps of download speed — well under what most households get — and you won’t need to commit to a contract.
These services are usually cheaper than cable and often come with unlimited DVR storage and signup discounts. Unfortunately, streaming services don’t always carry regional sports networks so you might miss out on your local MLB, NHL or NBA team’s games.
Provider | Price range* | Channel counts |
